Meet Your Local Business: Dee and Steve’s Cleaning

Things that make you go hmmm.... Germs

Most people would probably say that bathrooms are the dirtiest, most germ-ridden area of the home, but they would be wrong. Most kitchen sinks actually have more germs than the toilet. Likewise, the carpet in a home is thousands of times dirtier than the toilet seats in the same home.

It’s been said that married couples working in business together bring a unique kind of passion to their work.  That couldn’t be truer than the kind of energy that Dee O’Connor Peterson and husband Steve bring to their cleaning business, Dee and Steve’s Cleaning.

Dee, originally from Georgia has two children, and Steve, a Minnesota native, have been together for 25 years. Both of Dee and Steve were working at a local Holiday store where a chance meeting brought them together.  Their shared values and commitment to hard work made for a very firm foundation.

As fate would have it, Dee’s daughter, Pamela, became an Army officer and was stationed in Hawaii with her young son who was born in 1999 in St. Paul.  Dee flew to Hawaii to help care for her grandson and Steve followed not long after.  It was Hawaii that gave birth to their business, Dee and Steve’s Cleaning.

It began purely by chance as Dee volunteered to help deployed soldiers leaving the island recover their security deposits by coming in and cleaning the property to a standard where Hawaiian landlords couldn’t possibly refuse to return the soldiers deposit money.  It was this generosity and work ethic that led others to start requesting their services.  Before long, they were in huge demand.  In fact, Dee and Steve’s Cleaning flourished taking on a clientele of 50 regular customers.  Referrals and word of mouth made advertising unnecessary.  The work spoke for itself.  Each day saw them out the door by 7:00 A.M. finishing sometimes late at night.  On each job, insisting the work lead to an immaculate finish.

They subsequently returned to the mainland in late 2010 arriving back in Minnesota in the middles of winter.  The process of rebuilding their thriving Hawaii business began again.

They employ state-of-the-art cleaning methods on each home, using a high tech Rainbow vacuum as just one of their tools.  The Rainbow is certified asthma & allergy friendly™ by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America*.  In addition, the Rainbow uses Mother Nature’s most powerful element, water, to trap dirt and odors, returning only naturally clean, water-washed air to your home environment.  “Both of us are staunch believers in eco cleaning”, she said.  “We’re committed to “Clean Green”.

Both are firmly committed to the green house cleaning industry, insisting on guarding both your home and the environment. Dee and Steve’s cleaning company is one built on a passion for excellence and customer satisfaction.
