It would be hard to come up with a better example of entrepreneurship than the one found in Dave Bergeron, owner of iStorage at 8620 13th Ave E. in Shakopee.  Known years back as “Domino Dave”, Bergeron began his successful business journey by building a local franchised Domino Pizza store when he was just 20.  At the ripe young age of 24, Dave was managing over 100 employees at 5 locations, sending out pizzas to just about everyone in town.

The pizza business gave way in the spring of 2008 to a new passion.  The Prior Lake native found his way into a new entrepreneurial venture; the storage business.  Beginning a new business at the dawn of the great recession might not have made sense to many but experience and the kind of grit that years in the pizza business taught him made not only surviving possible but growth as well.

He and his new wife Stephanie, both Prior Lake natives, have seven children between them.

Even with iStorage reaching normal capacity.  Bergeron is still very hands on with his business.  He prefers to be fully engaged behind the counter every day, insisting on meeting new customers and developing relationships with them.

His storage customers can count an almost unprecedented state-of-the-art security.  Access to the premises is only granted via a key FOB, a small hardware device with built-in authentication passcode.  Because a key fob is a physical object, it is easy for the owner to know if it has been stolen. In comparison, a password can be stolen, guessed or given out.  This limits access to the facility to those who are supposed have it.  The property also has 15 video cameras, and individual door alarms protecting each storage locker and hard wired to their alarm system.  iStorage is also the only facility in Scott County with a fire sprinkler protection system in every storage unit

Business customers with storage requirements can expect the unexpected in his facility.  Owner-operated businesses needing that extra space can also utilize iStorage’s conference room at the facility, access the copy and fax machine, and even access Wi-Fi internet right from their vehicle or storage locker.  iStorage can also sign for and accept  your deliveries, keeping them safe for pickup at your convenience.

In addition to $1 first month rental deals, iStorage also offers a FREE MOVING TRUCK USE when you rent a 10 x 10 or larger with a 3-month stay.  It’s self-storage but with service, security and amenities that takes this whole business model to another level.
