Germany is a country enjoying abundant natural beauty, and an elegance marked by a unique culture and history.  (die chönheit)  The many German regions enjoy variations of this spectacular natural splendor while owning certain characteristics that sets each apart from the rest.  Perhaps the most unique of all the German regions is the one found in Minnesota.  It’s founder, Erika Neibert, is the business mind behind German Specialty Imports.  Her company has found a way to become a Little Germany.

Given that 43% of the Minnesota population is German and also the largest ethnic group in the U.S., Erika has become the bridge for the many among us wanting that authentic connection to Germany.  And that authentic connection couldn’t be more relevant now that Octoberfest is nearly upon us.

She came to the U.S. in 1998.  A husband and three children as well as a career as a computer programmer occupied most of her time.  But it was her passion for all things German that ultimately led to activities like consulting businesses who wanted to import German products as well as creating curriculums for helping people speak and write German to pre-defined levels of expertise.

Today, her shop in Prior Lake boasts an incredible selection of premium German accessories.  She hand selects it all.  There’s a beautiful selection of stylish hats from Lodenhut and Faustmann as well as shoes, dresses and even leather pants.

Her China/Porcelain is remarkable for the brands she carries.  There’s Meissen, KPM, Rosenthal, Hutschenreuther, Arzberg and Seltmann.  Need German groceries.  Well take in the coffee choices from such brands as Dallmayer, Jakobs, Tchibo, Idee and Caro Kaffee.

Best known for its famous Oktoberfest, Germany is also home to some of Europa’s most beautiful scenery, fairytale castles, important historic sites and lively party scenes.  The only way, short of going there, that one can begin to have this experience is visiting Erika in her Little German here in Prior Lake.  Call her at 952-226-2563 or better yet stop in to one of her famous weekend open houses.

She’s located at 19580 Bernard Avenue.  It’s a quaint store about all things fun in life: Cosmetics, beauty, skincare, hair, nails, food and all done with a distinct German flair.   Be ready because when you arrive you’ll be greeted with that infamous German hospitality known around the world.
