A pair of Jeans, the size of six tennis courts, stitched together from thousands of jeans donated for charity, has been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the biggest every made, anywhere! The denims were put on display in Croatia´s capital of Zagreb and were assembled from 8023 unwanted pairs and auctioned off for charity. The legs were 45 meters long!

The journey from being a receptionist for a tailor years ago to style consultant for J. Hilburn is quite an interesting one. Its a trip Prior Lake’s Denise McBride seems to have been made tailor made for. She loved sewing as a little girl and recalls the home economics classes of high school as among her favorite. After spending a brief time as a hair stylist and realizing it wasn’t for her, she reverted to her true passion.
There was about twenty years put in at Dayton’s Marshall Fields as their Master tailor. And then twelve years ago, she embarked on her own, determined to put her entrepreneurism behind her love of sewing.
Her dreams got bigger and today she’s a style consultant with J. Hilburn, a brilliant company started five years ago by two men from Wall Street. Their vision was for a company specializing in dress shirts. Esquire Magazine today recognizes those shirts as number one in the United States.

Alterations are still a big part of her work in her Prior Lake studio, LakeSide Sewing. “My 32 years of knowledge and integrity has earned me a reputation as “the best tailor in the area.”
It’s doubtful any of her three children would disagree. Her daughter Rachel 16, sons Alexander 11 and Titus 8 are surely the direct beneficiaries of having direct access to such a seamstress.
“Creating a look that gets noticed isn’t about dressing like a peacock”, she said. “It is about dressing like a gentleman. The details separate an outfit that is sub-par from one that gets noticed.
