Last Minute Shopping Before Thanksgiving!

A quick stop at the grocery store was anything but on Wednesday.

"We have some collard greens, we have some Hawaiian rolls," said Jernae Wright leaving an HEB grocery store.

With less than 24 hours until Thanksgiving dinner, last minute shoppers hit the grocery store for everything from desserts, sides and even frozen turkeys.
"We did it in two parts so this is part B," Wright laughed.
"It can hit all at once," said HEB Hancock Center Unit Director Gary Hestand. "The holidays really spike our business."
Downtown at Whole Foods the crowd has held steady since early Wednesday morning.
"People were waiting at the doors at 6 a.m.," said Whole Foods store team leader Jason Lowery. "We really enjoy the energy and enthusiasm in the store."

Pies were stacked to the ceiling at Marie Callender's in North Austin.
"It's like our Super Bowl really," said General Manager Tina Carlson. "We've been baking overnight ever since Sunday, so we've pretty much been 24/7 working."

The store expects to sell more than 9,000 pies this holiday.

"I start my order in August. We start calculating based on orders that we get and formulas and then we do our planning, our pie oven schedule is done a month in advance," Carlson.

Those who didn't order early are in the store testing their luck.

"We didn't order in advance so we were told to come here for today," said customer Fran Spencer.
"We're going to have Turkey and all the good things, and she said she needs Marie to help out," laughed shopper Bill Raisovich.

Whatever it takes for that Thanksgiving meal. And these crowds are only expected to grow as time runs out.
