Prom Night

The prom night is a short term for the 'promenade' used to define a formal dance ceremony in US and Canada. It is an event that is held at the end of the academic year. There are many types of prom night. It varies from country to country as well. In UK it is considered as the season of the classical concerts or 'proms' whereas in North America it is thought as the Leaver's ball, Valedictory Ball, Leaver's Dinner or the Leaver's Do. It is held in the school among seniors and juniors.

The both events are held separately that is Prom for seniors and prom for juniors are separate. It was first derived in nineteenth century from the word promenade ball, and then the tradition changed, it was then termed as the graduation ball. The tradition of the prom night is that the girls and boys dress themselves in a particular dress code.

The girls dress themselves in the long dresses so called gowns, and ornamented with the buttonhole that is presented to them by their dates. The boys usually were the dinner jackets and black tie and red bow. The boys wear the present that is given to them by their girls. The main glamorous part that remains is the Prom King and the Queen.

It is decided by the prom court and the voters whom to make the prom King and the Prom Queen of that night. It depends on their roles they play in activities, sports, and class clubs that make their peers notice and give them votes for this night.
