I have been caught up in my cleaning the house duties…and being a bit of a whiner. So, here’s my throwback post to mostly myself ;)
When I was a young mom (and still somedays) I felt very unproductive. I felt like all I did all day long was clean faces, clean bums, clean clothes, clean kitchens and try to take a shower once in awhile throughout the process. And after awhile I started loathing the everyday work of motherhood….the dishes, the laundry, the cleaning, the cooking…it was all so mundane.
But I got some wise counsel from a good mom…who basically stopped me in my tracks. She said to me “I love the mundane, I don’t have to think and I can send my mind to a higher place.” It was her time to pray for her family, to think about life’s goals and dreams and to send her mind to a higher place. It was exactly what I needed to hear.
And everytime I start to complain to myself about all the mundance tasks that are done day in and day out….I remember that I can “send my mind to a higher place.”I can think about my next glorious sewing project, I can think about each one of my children and their individual needs, and pray for the needs of all of those around me.
I am so glad for mothers who have gone before me and the fact that they can teach me gems of wise words….
